Team Ejisu wins the MTN Ashanti fest tournament 2o23 by beating santasi in the penalties shoot out,after the game ended one all in the regulation time.

MTN ghana once again organized a soccer tournament to mark their Ashanti fest 2o23 festival.

A total of 16 communities within Kumasi participated in the tournament,with four teams each in a group.Ejisu was in a group(GROUP A)with Fante NewTown,Amakom and Asafo,

No doubt the eventual winners started the competition as an underdogs,but the team begins to gain the attention after emerges as group winners .and qualified alongside Amakom being the runners up.

The queen’s City lads were paired with AshTown in the quarter finals that took place at Dechemso Otumfuo park.which Ejisu managed to beat their opponents in a slim win.goal courtacy Evans Nkrumah of Karela united.

They then drawn to play Kwadaso in the semi finals which happened to be one of the most difficult game but managed to win 5:4 on penalties shoot outs after the game had ended one all after the regulation time.

Meanwhile, the other semi final game between Santasi and Dechemso also ended 3:3 in 90mins,Santasi coming from 2 goals down to secure a draw.They were lucky on the day and got the victory on a 4-3 penalties.

The stage were then set for Ejisu vs Santasi in the Grand-Final of the thrilling 2023 MTN Ashantifest Football Fiesta be on Sunday, July 30, 2023

Team Santasi could boast of established and experience GPL players like Empem Dacosta formerly of Asante Kotoko,Karela UTD and AshGold, Enock Morrison of Asante Kotoko and other crop of good players.Whiles Ejisu has parade a young team with less experience or exposure.but they were able to stand on their feet to go toe to toe with the star sturded Santasi team.

Santasi took advantage of a mistake from the opponents defender,making the encounter very difficult for the queen cities lads.but team champions never surrender and got the all important goal and the equaliser from the future stars forward Rawuf Abubakar Koli aka TORRES.

The tournament brought a large crowd, sweat, tears, and excitement from players and spectators. At the crucial penalty shootout,Enock morrison of Asante Kotoko kick was saved by the best goal keeper in the tournament Fatwu Seidu of PAC accadamy

and the task was now fell on the feet of Asiamah Badu the most experience player within the Ejisu team .Badu never break the massive fans heart and convert the penalty and Ejisu emerges as CHAMPIONS

As much as the players enjoyed the game,and also gave a huge excitement to the fans.

The icing on the cake was the prize money of ¢20,000.00 as winners,which the first runners up Santasi also received an amount of ¢10,000.00
