Biography of Kuami Eugene

Kuami Eugene is a Ghanaian singer, songwriter, and record producer born as Eugene Kwame Marfo on February 1, 1997, in Fadama, a suburb of Accra, Ghana. He is known for his unique blend of highlife, afrobeats, and contemporary music.

Growing up, Kuami Eugene was exposed to music at an early age by his mother who was a gospel musician. He started playing the keyboard and guitar at the age of 7 and eventually joined his church’s choir where he gained recognition for his singing abilities. He attended Salvation Army Senior High School in Accra where he continued to hone his musical skills.

Kuami Eugene began his music career in 2016 when he participated in the season 5 of the music reality show, MTN Hitmaker, which he eventually won. His win on the show earned him a recording contract with Lynx Entertainment, a record label owned by Ghanaian music producer, Richie Mensah.

In 2017, Kuami Eugene released his debut single “Ebeyeyie” which gained widespread popularity in Ghana. He followed up with other hit songs including “Angela”, “Confusion”, “Wish Me Well”, and “Ohemaa” featuring Ghanaian songstress, KiDi. His debut album, “Rockstar,” released in 2018, was a commercial success and won him several awards including the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards’ “Album of the Year” and “Highlife Artiste of the Year.”

Kuami Eugene has collaborated with several prominent Ghanaian musicians such as Sarkodie, Shatta Wale, and MzVee, and has performed at several major music events in Ghana and other African countries. In addition to his music career, he is also a brand ambassador for several companies including Itel Mobile, Coca-Cola, and Ghana’s Ministry of Education.

Kuami Eugene’s success in the music industry has earned him several awards and recognitions including the 2020 Ghana Music Awards’ “Artiste of the Year” and the 2020 Africa Youth Choice Awards’ “Best African Artiste.” He continues to be a major force in the Ghanaian music industry and is widely regarded as one of the country’s most talented young musicians.
