Kanye West is an American rapper, songwriter, record producer, and fashion designer. He was born on June 8, 1977, in Atlanta, Georgia, but grew up in Chicago, Illinois. He was raised in a middle-class household by his mother, Donda West, who was an English professor, and his father, Ray West, who was a former Black Panther.

West began making music at a young age and was already producing tracks for local artists by the time he was a teenager. He attended Chicago State University for one year before dropping out to pursue his music career.

In 2000, West got his big break in the music industry when he produced several tracks on Jay-Z’s album “The Blueprint”. He continued to produce for various artists, including Alicia Keys and Ludacris, while also working on his own music.

West released his debut album, “The College Dropout,” in 2004, which was a critical and commercial success. He followed up with several more successful albums, including “Late Registration” (2005), “Graduation” (2007), and “808s & Heartbreak” (2008).

In addition to his music career, West has also been involved in fashion, launching his own clothing line, Yeezy, in 2015. He has also been known for his outspoken personality and controversial public statements.

West has won numerous awards throughout his career, including 22 Grammy Awards, and has sold over 140 million records worldwide. He is also recognized for his philanthropy, including his support for various charities and his work to provide aid to those affected by Hurricane Katrina in 2005.

Kanye West has been married to reality TV star Kim Kardashian since 2014 and they have four children together. However, in 2021, Kardashian filed for divorce, ending their seven-year marriage.
