He is best known for his laid-back, tropical-themed music, often referred to as “island escapism” or “gulf and western” style. Buffett’s music combines elements of country, folk, rock, and Caribbean sounds, creating a unique and infectious style that has earned him a dedicated fan base known as “Parrotheads.”

Born in Pascagoula, Mississippi, Buffett was raised in Mobile, Alabama. He developed an early interest in music and began playing the guitar at a young age. In college, he attended the University of Southern Mississippi, where he graduated with a degree in history. During his college years, Buffett played in local bands and began writing songs.
